TRANSITIONING WORK OUTFIT INTO EVENING WARDROBE

The great thing about having an all black uniform to work is that I can easily transition a work look into an evening wardrobe. It is really handy, seldom that I will have to go home and change for dinner, drinks or other occasions after work. You may want to swap one or two things to completely turn it around, some people would swap a jacket, change shoes and or add a red lip to finish off their look, depending on the occasion, in my case I did not change much with except the bag - from blue to black, I felt a black bag would ground the look much more.

SPRINGIFICATION - LAYERING WITH 80'S CARDIGAN SWEATER, MILITARY STYLE JACKET AND SHIRT DRESS

Hi all, it has taken me a while but I made it, I'm back. Clearly I haven't mastered the skill of blogging through all life happenings. It's a working progress so bare with and a huge thank you for you all who have still been popping around on this space while I have been on hiatus. I know it can be off putting when you visit blogs time and time again, hoping for new posts - only to find an old post you've seen a dozen times already. So thank you for coming back again.

Now on to my outfit  - I love this 80's colour grid cardigan sweater. I bought it a few years ago from a vintage shop in Brighton I don't remember what it's called but Brighton have some cool vintage shops so next time you are around check them out. It is perfect for me to add some colour to my work wardrobe. My work uniform is black - everything black and if you've been following my blog for a while you know I love colourful clothing - bright punchy colours at that, so it's unfortunate for me that I have to wear black all the time for work. 

Because the weather is slowly getting warmer by the day I can wear such cardigan with a little layering without a thick coat and I will be okay. I am wearing a black shirt dress from Mango underneath - perfect for work; the cardigan over it and on top the cardi a military style jacket from Jaeger which really grounds the look - not too far from my usual uniform with a little peak of colour if necessary.

Clearly I have gone a step further breaking the all black rule with the silver shoes but I have a thing for silver shoes currently. I have been leaving in these pair from Zara, they have started to look really distress which in turn has brought about a different attraction to them. You will be surprise how many things go with silver shoes.

LEOPARD PRINT BACK AND DENIM SHIRT

Midway through our visit to Tuscany we visited Pisa and I wore this fun leopard print + denim shirt I snagged from ebay. it's one of the most conformable shirts I own. I team it with mom shorts from topshop and their cork double strap sandal - seemed ideal for a day of long stroll on the streets of Tuscany.

It seems my favourite pastime of late is raiding my mother's closet. I would ask 'mum do you have any old school clothing you don't wear anymore for me' she answers no, but it's because she thinks I will have no interest in such clothing, errr What! Thanking my lucky stars I happened to be around when she was clearing her closet to give stuff away. I was surprised how many gems I found, I couldn't believe they were just going to be given away. I packed most of them away and now when I have time I go through them to pick some pieces to incorporate in my wardrobe. I have plans to alter some of them to suit me style - not so much the size because I turn to like clothes baggy on me any way, I find them more conformable. Pretty much half of the clothing I took to Italy with me, had been 'passed on' from my mother.  

If you know me personally you know I love vintage clothing a lot. It's not so much because of the history but the fact that they are so different from today's clothing. The tailoring is different, the cut, the fabrics, and the colours, all things I love, which is why I love my mum's old clothing. Some of them aren't even that old circa 1990's but I feel a special way when I wear her clothing, it's an amazing thought and feeling to wear something that she wore, probably at the same age I am now.  

This top/dress has a lot of details to it, I love the colours, the buttons, the overlap folding with subtle stud sequence on them and also that it fits loosely. I paired it with black short with lace details and silver shoes, the only pair of shoe I took with me on holiday. I planned the outfit with no idea which shoes I would wear with but I think the silver worked well with it in the end.

It's only fitting that I share a post showing more of my outfit in my previous details post. Dress is from Asos and I'm loving the shoes that my girls are wearing here. That 'Jeffery Campbell Towers' are everything. He doesn't actually call them that, It's just it feels right to call them that.
We dined at Aqua kyoto on Regent Street. I absolutely love the view from their rooftop, great service, lovely people over there, they looked after so well and made us feel very special. Definitely going again. And a little tip we learned for next time is to order from their set three course menu beforehand.
