A VISIT TO THE FERRARI MUSEUM IN MARANELLO

Dress - Karen Millen , Shoes + Bag - Zara

Another one of my late posts, this happened two months ago on my holiday in Italy but I'm only now able to post it. I think it's properly best to for now let go of my goal to blog in real time and focus firstly on blogging about events or activities within at least the same week of it happening. Clearly I have been in a funk or been having a 'blogger's block' even before we entered autumn winter, but now that funk has quadrupled, - it's cold, I have a nasty sore throat with all the other symptoms of common cold and feeling sorry for myself :(. So it's surprising i'm even writing this post. Nevertheless, I hope I will not be beaten down completely by the blues and can be regular on here. Thanks for stoping by and I wish you all a great weekend.

What I am currently reading for a 'pick me up' : Creative Healing I hope you will check it out.

Midway through our visit to Tuscany we visited Pisa and I wore this fun leopard print + denim shirt I snagged from ebay. it's one of the most conformable shirts I own. I team it with mom shorts from topshop and their cork double strap sandal - seemed ideal for a day of long stroll on the streets of Tuscany.

IN ITALY: UNDER THE TUSCAN SUN

I am not exactly sure how and when it happened, but at some point the phrase 'holidaying under the Tuscan sun' became interchangeable with cool. And as my luck would have it I spent last week there enjoying the Renaissance cities of Florence and Pisa with some of my amazing friends, a rather big group of friends. Italy treated us so well. We stayed at a beautiful house in Vicchio a province in Florence, 30 to 45 minutes away from Florence city centre.
The streets are so charming, full of character and seemed so much was going on 'when it wasn't their siesta, yes that was a little surprising to me, I thought siesta was only a Spanish thing but I didn't know Italians did the same. Around midday some shops close so that their proprietors can go home for a long lunch or a nap. Although I didn't notice this in Florence, probably because it was very populated by tourist. Let's face it, it would be a shame to travel miles to visit a museum or church to find out that it's close for the afternoon. Some of the streets of old Florence were very small, you would struggle to drive a big car through. It was fitting to their architecture and probably practical too as most the locals were using mainly really small cars and vespa bikes.

I was reminded of old buildings in Ghana whilst wandering through the vibrantly coloured houses with decorated block coloured wooden louvered window.

Sat in front of the Santa Maria del Fiore (Duomo) Florence Cathedral - We couldn't go in as we weren't covered up enough.
The food in Florence is great, I know pizza is synonymous to Italy but I went crazy for seafood spaghetti, I only had spaghetti dishes each time we ate at a restaurants. Seafood caught by local fishermen is a real treat. The food wasn't always a hit - firstly not being able to understand the italian menu made it all the more difficult to order good food. We had a hard time trying to find a trattoria (on a recommendation from an italian) that was open for service - a trattoria is an Italian-style eating establishment which is less formal than a restaurant, serving simple Italian dishes and also turns to be cheaper.  When we did find one in Bologna they food didn't live up to the expectation. Still we indulged in gelato and flat bread bread, prosciutto and mozzarella sandwiches.

Window shopping was fun, I couldn't resist taking pictures of their wonderful window displays. It was a shame I did come across these shops when they were open.

How was your experience in Tuscany? Do you have favourite city in Italy?

A look back on 2013: Nice, Cannes and Monaco

Merry Christmas Eve, how time flies! Sorry guys that I have missed a couple days of blogging, I have been very busy this period. I have also been looking back on the year and how things have transpired. Most importantly I have been counting my blessings, I'm very grateful and thankful to God to be alive and well. One of the many great things I got to do this year was travelling, especially my trip to the South of France back in September. I've been bitten by the bug and I'm looking forward to doing more travelling in the new year. I went on holidays with an amazing group of friends, Stayed at Le Foulon Villa in gréolières provence, somewhere near Nice on top of the mountains, and also visited Cannes and Monaco. It was a great experience. I loved the cities, the food and the people. I had so much fun it was too painful to come back to cold and rainy England. Here some of the pictures I took. What did you have fun doing the most this year?

Goodbyes Are The Hardest Things

I can't believe this! We are almost in the middle of July and it's raining like crazy here. It has been raining all day. I saw the picture above on Pinterest and it put a smile on my face in spite of this miserable weather. Still thankful for the rain, be thankful always.

The thought of leaving this beautiful part of the world and its people in less than two months has been a little hard to take. Already I'm having to say my goodbyes to friends whose time here has come to an end. I was out at the weekend to say bye to Alex, who is going back to France after a year here. Emotional. It was rather a good night, catching up with friends who have been hiding away in their offices and homes, buried their heads in books and laptops finishing off report, thesis and so on.

Parisian Weekend!!!

 Parisian Weekend!!!

I was in Paris last weekend for the first time, with three of my friends and colleagues. One of them, from France, which was great; having our own translator, granted we didn't need a lot of translations, just the odd things from cafes and restaurants. The trip to Paris had been highly anticipated. with all the prior notions about Paris;  the quintessential romantic city, their food, fashion, and the romantic  personas of French men , it was a little difficult not to have any expectation- something I have learnt not to do when anticipating anything in order not to get disappointed but instead be open for surprises. Anyway back to what Paris had to offer. There were so many cool things to do and see, three days was just not enough but we still got around doing some pretty awesome things. we did a lot of walking and queuing, we walked along Avenue des Champs-Elysees and checked out a few of the shops, Arc de Triomphe, in a mass at the Cathedral Notre-Dame on Sunday before climbing up its stairs to the very top for a beautiful view of the Paris skyline, visited the Louvre, Pantheon and la Tour Eiffel among others.  Dinned out at a very nice restaurant at Chatelet, I don’t remember the name now. The atmosphere in the city at night time is amazing; it has a whimsical, romantic feel about it.  I want to visit again learn a little French for the next trip.

Spot the newlyweds in the middle of some what busy Avenue des Champs-Elysees taking wedding photos, bravery or craziness. The things we do for love :D
